Campanha de Ouro Verde

Campanha de Ouro Verde is a joint project from Aura Verde LDA with Saboeira de Inhambane. The goal is to start plant 15.000 coconut trees in 2024 in Sikiriva (Inhambane) area, which has been mostly affected by dying coconut trees and urgently needs a reforestation for the local communities and natural preservation. All coconuts have been planted in November 2023 and we are keen to see the first sprouting in early rain season. They will be planted in 2024 together with Saboeira de Inhambane who provides funding of this project.

Ouro Verde project status quo per 05/2024

All planted 15.000 coconut seeds in November sprouted and are currently grown to roughly 70cm high seedlings, ready to be planted.

In the months of April and May 2024 Aura Verde planted together with the community of Sikiriva 375 coconut trees. As Aura Verde still needs project funding, acceleration of plantation can only reach about 150 coconut trees per weekend. We are still trying to find a sponsor for our community project and will keep you updated, when we found a partner for the reforestation of coconut trees in Inhambane.

Coconut products

The coconut plant can provide a vast majority of different products. By using the leaves or the fibre you can create everything from decorative items, pots, hats, building material and so on

The power of a small seed

We work with the local communities to collect and plant seeds from local trees to boost our planting capabilities. We clean and prepare the seeds, dry them and finally plant them until small seedlings grow which are then planted into planting bags to be prepared to be planted into the wild.
